'Courage' Sterling Lava Bead Necklace | Sterling Silver
In 2002, Mount Nyiragongo erupted 20km north of Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This eruption destroyed more than forty percent of the city, including schools and hospitals, leaving about 120,000 people homeless. The remnants of the eruption can still be seen today with lava stone covering much of the landscape.
These special edition pieces were created to honour the courage, strength and resilience of the communities surrounding Mount Nyiragongo and to raise funds for The Tchukudu Kids Home in Goma. 50% percent of the proceeds from these pieces go directly to the children, helping to provide food, safety, shelter and most importantly love, for over 140 children.
The sterling silver lava bead in the 'Courage' necklace is cast from real lava. It hangs on a delicate cable chain. The cable chain is fully adjustable and can be customized to any length up to 22" making it the ultimate piece to layer with. Make it 22" one day and 16" the next, endless possibilities.
