Kambale’s Story -this is why we keep expanding!
KAMBALE MBAVUMOJA Jospin
Gender: Male
Class: 2nd year of Secondary School
Born in: Butembo, September 14, 2008
Kambale Mbavumoja Jospin is a brave young boy and an orphan.
His family used to live in Butembo, where his father worked as a teacher. Despite his dedication, the modest salary he earned was not enough to meet the family’s basic needs. In search of a better life, his father decided to move the family to Goma.
Upon arriving in Goma, his father joined the Congolese army, hoping to improve their situation. Sadly, after just a few months of service, he lost his life in the M23 rebellion. His death left the family devastated.
Soon after, Kambale’s mother suffered a heart attack and became gravely ill. Her health issues, compounded by an unknown disease, left her too weak to work. Unable to support her children, she fell into despair.
One day, she heard about VMC Asbl, an organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children. Desperate to secure a better future for her son, she brought Kambale to VMC. The organization accepted him into their care, allowing him to start his education in the second year of primary school at Jonathan Holiday School. Today, Kambale continues to study there with determination and hope.
Kambale’s Dream
Despite all the challenges he has faced, Kambale is passionate about learning. He firmly believes that education is the key to gaining the skills he needs for a brighter future, both for himself and his family. His greatest dream is to grow up and help vulnerable and orphaned children, just as he has been helped.
Outside of school, Kambale enjoys music, dancing, and comedy, which bring him joy and allow him to express himself.
His favorite color is red, and he loves eating rice with eggs.
Kambale lives with his mother and sometimes takes it upon himself to find food for her because she no longer has the strength to work due to illness. After school, he goes to the market to carry parcels for customers, which allows him to earn some money and help his mother meet their needs.
